Letter from Eleanor Hardy to Florence dated March 23rd 1910

This is a copy of a letter which was in the possession of the late Ivan Payne. It is the last letter sent by Eleanor Hardy to Ivan's mother Florence and was kept by Florence as it was of great sentimental value to her.

The paper is folded in half. The first page of letter has the fold on the left hand side. When that page is turned over to the left, the middle two pages appear on the reverse side and when the third page is turned over to the left the last page appears on the other side adjacent to the first page.

Last page (on left) and first page (on right)

The Firs, Kimberley

Second and third pages The Firs, Kimberley

The letter says: -

The Firs, March 23rd 1910.

My dear Florence,

Thank you very much for your present - I generally use a larger size but they are a very useful present. I also thank you very much indeed for the two miniatures I am very proud of them & wear them always. I am pleased you are going on so comfortably & enjoy your life. Perhaps some day you will care to come to see me again. I was quite upset this morning at receiving so many letters and presents, none of my friends forgot me. I have heard from J & E this morning. You will enjoy the move into the country they both are well & enjoy the life. I am looking forward to having my Edie home it has seemed a long time. I am fairly well & up most days to dinner. I hope your Aunts are well give my love to them, & the same to you

Affectionately yours, Eleanor Hardy.

NOTES:
The words "died June 1st 1910" on the second line were presumably inserted by Florence.
