Gravestone of Mary Treais, husband and daughter

Gravestone ofMary Treais This photograph was taken in St Dominic churchyard on 14th November 2013 and is courtesy of Roger Dunn. The inscription reads:

In Loving Memory
of
MARY TREAIS
beloved wife of
R. TREAIS of St Dominick
Fell asleep June 26th 1901
Aged 72 years
-------------
He brought me also out of an horrible
pit, out of the mire and clay, and set
my feet upon the rock, and established
my goings

Also of the above named
RICHARD TREAIS
who died Oct 1st 1904
Aged 74 years
-------------
May he rest in peace

MARY LOUISA BENNETTS
daughter of the above
Died December 20th 1937

The quote under the inscription for Mary is from Psalms 40.2 and is often used as an allegory for Christian salvation. It may possibly indicate that Mary was what is now referred to as a "born again" Christian but this inscription is quite commonly used and no conclusions should be drawn about its significance without further supporting evidence.
