- Martha Uglow (1775?-1855) and her family. That website, dedicated to Uglows, was the original model for our website.
- Jane Trease (1811-1890) and her descendants. David Bridge, the creator of that website, kindly supplied information and photos for our website.
- Weavers of Nottingham, the family business
established by George Trease (1840-1907).
- Reginald Trease (1889-1918). Like so many of his generation, his promising life came to a premature end following injuries sustained in the 1st World War.
- Sidney Trease (1898-1918). Like his brother Reginald, he lost his life in the 1st World War, aged only 19. His body was never recovered but his grieving mother was sent surviving personal possessions like his pipe.
- Professor George E Trease (1902-1986) who is the
inspiration and source of so much of the research on this website and was a distinguished scientist.
- (Robert) Geoffrey Trease (1909-1998). This
Wikipedia link is a good introduction to the life of this ground breaking author.

- Stephen Tracey (1596-1654?) of Great Yarmouth, married in Leiden Holland, emigrated to Plymouth, Mass., and returned to UK. He is almost certainly a member of the Trayes family of East Anglia, UK. Family to be included in Trease research, when time available.
- History of a Trease family in America (1713? onward). The Dreese family left Germany, to escape religious persecution, in 1733 on a British ship, stopping at Plymouth en route. They settled in Pennsylvania, then Ohio. How the surname evolved from Dreese to Trease (rather than Treece, Treese, or Trees) is not explored - possibly 'Treases' settled nearby and the unusual spelling was adopted for their similarly sounding name. Like UK Treases, they
used the same christian names (Michael, Peter, Samuel, Henry, James, John, Thomas, William, George) and have a descendant scientist who majored in NMR.
- Ila La Von Cowling (1910 onward) who married into the Trease (Dreese) family.
- Johann Valentin Vertries (abt1720 - 1772) and John Van Trease (1744 - abt1831). These two families are not necessarily connected in any way but both have descendants named "Van Trease", a name now frequently found in the USA.
The first was an immigrant from Germany. The second was born in Maryland in 1744 but his parents' country of origin is unknown. Van is a Dutch preposition meaning "of" so name could indicate that Dutch person with a parent named Trease.
- John Trace (1805?-1893) who lived in Advent parish before emigrating. Subsequent research, not in link, shows that John's wife, Jane, is the sister of Ambrose Matthews of Michaelstow (1796?-1877). Family to be included in Trease research, when time available.
