William was born in Sheerness/Minster, Isle of Sheppey , Kent during the year 1858/9 the son of Peter and Catherine nee Buchan and grandson of Peter and Margaret nee Olver.

At the time of the 1881 Census he was living at home with his parents, unmarried and his occupation was given as Engine Fitter. During 1885 when he was about 26 years old he was married on the Isle of Sheppey to Margaret J A King who appears to have been born in Sheerness and who was about a year younger than William.

William and Margaret appear to have had at least five children, three sons and two daughters, one son dying in infancy. In the 1901 census return William 'Treyeas' is recorded as an engine fitter living with his family at 29 King Street Sheerness.

Margaret died during 1934, aged about 74, and was buried in Sheppey Cemetery. William died in 1921 and was buried in Halfway Cemetery Sheerness.

• Son William King was born in Sheerness/Minster, Isle of Sheppey, Kent during 1886. In the 1901 census return he is recorded as a 'telegraph messenger' age 15 living with his parents.
  
  
• Son John Cleaveland was born in Sheerness/Minster, Isle of Sheppey, Kent during 1889 and died there in infancy, aged about 2 years, during 1891. He was buried in Sheppey Cemetery.
  
  
• Son Walter Robert was born in Sheerness/Minster, Isle of Sheppey, Kent during 1892. He died during 1962, aged about 70, and was buried in Sheppey Cemetery.
  
  
• Daughter Ethel Margaret was born in Sheerness/Minster, Isle of Sheppey, Kent during 1898 and was alive at the time of the 1901 census.
  
  
• Daughter Lilian May was born in Sheerness/Minster, Isle of Sheppey, Kent during 1903. She died aged 17 in 1920 and was buried in Halfway Cemetery Sheerness.

No further details have been obtained so far about any of the three surviving children.
