FAMILY OF SAMUEL TRAIES and ELIZABETH nee CHUBB
Some Traies family trees show this son Samuel as marrying Willmet Bowden in 1749, but the arguments for this son being the Samuel who married
Elizabeth Chubb appear compelling in the light of information that has recently come to light about the will and the associated claim
filed against executor Abraham Wivell by William Traies (who married Mary Bond) and his children :-
1. Samuel's brother John in his will of 1787 leaves bequests to nephew Joseph Treais and to a nephew who is a tucker in Exeter.
2. Samuel and Elizabeth's son Joseph is the only Joseph Traies known to be alive in 1787 and another of their sons, Samuel, is described on
his death certificate as a tucker of Exeter - both fit the descriptions of the nephews. Samuel and Willmet nee Bowden had three sons - none
called Joseph, all living in Crediton, and the one whose occupation is known was a mason.
3. Samuel was christened in 1731 - had he married Willmet he would have been a minor aged about 18 at time of marriage, assuming he was christened
when a baby.

JAMES TRAIES (1785 - 1878) and his family
In the St John's Hackney marriage register of 1818, James Traies is recorded as a bachelor. If correct, either Jane, Samuel, and Ann were
the children of a different James Traies or James Traies had not married Hannah - possibly Hannah is the same person as Ann Sutton
In addition to John Traies cordawainer of Soho, the following may be references to relatives.

RESEARCH
The register entry for James TRAIES marriage in Hackney in 1818 to Ann SUTTON describes him as a bachelor so he may never have married
Hannah by whom he had three or more children. It is of course possible that Ann and Hannah are the same person.
We are currently missing a record of Ann Traise nee Sutton's death, Hannah Traise (if different person) and the following Christenings:
James b Oct 1816 - Statford le Bow (army papers), Mile End (1851 census return)
Henry b abt 1819 - Marylebone (1851/1871 census) Mile End (1861 census), Kensington (1881 census)
Jane b abt 1822 - Marlebone age 38 (1861 census) Marylebone age 68 (1891 census)
Hannah b abt 1825 - Marylebone age 25 (1851 census)
Emma b abt 1826 - Marylebone age 24 (1851 census)
As trade directories inidcate that James was at 37 Queen St. Bryanston Square from 1822 onward, the following searches are indicated
Baptisms of James and Henry in East London/Hackney area 1816 - 1822
Baptisms of Jane, Hannah and Emma in West London 1822 - 1830
